Hi!

I’m Chris

a person of many passions and little time,
a middle-aged, forever-young, child-at-heart,
that’s a nice way of saying immature,
my daughter says I have “Peter Pan” syndrome,
I took it as a compliment.

I’m married to my best friend;

she is the best person I know,
and has tolerated me for years,
she wants to grow old with me,
yes, I’m as surprised as you.

I have children;

and they still like me,
I raised them to be semi-functional adults,
with only a few lasting scars and psychosis between us,
one of them has their own children now,
I try not to let that make me feel old.

I’m military;

a Warrant Officer with the Royal Canadian Air Force,
an Aerospace Telecommunications and Information Systems Technician,
which is a long-winded way to say I fix electronics,
or rather I used to,
now I help others learn to fix them so I don’t have to.

I’m a Geek;

Firefly is my favourite fandom,
Savage Worlds is my favourite TTRPG system,
and Dragonlance is my favourite setting,
though Urban Fantasy is my favourite genre,
it’s confusing I know,
I immerse myself in books, movies, and television,
as well as gaming,
especially tabletop games,
because computers are better than consoles,
but sitting around the table with friends is better than both.

I’m a Photographer;

primarily of headshots and portraits,
with some geeky projects intermixed,
because people fascinate me,
and photography is my window.

I Enjoy Food and Fitness;

sometimes I pretend I know how to cook,
as long as I get to cook with my cast iron,
sushi and gastro-pub are my comfort foods,
sour gummy candies my vice,
which explains my waist.

my mind and body disagree on our age,
I once hurt my back folding laundry,
so now I go to the gym every day,
I feel better than ever,
and I think I look pretty.

I Enjoy Nature;

being surrounded by plants,
plus a golden retriever, a maltipoo, and two orange kitties,
oh, and an aquarium full of gold dust mollies,
which my wife describes as looking like they wear pants,
I’m basically a Druid,
minus everything that makes a druid cool,
and being dependent on the internet.
